Our Story

CAWA was founded out of necessity—a desire to close the gap between official forecasts and real-time, ground-level information in Appalachia. With its rugged mountains, scattered valleys, and diverse microclimates, this region faces unique forecasting challenges. What began as a small grassroots effort has grown into a trusted regional weather authority built on accuracy, integrity, and community service.
